Its amazing what a little bit of paint and new hardware did for this dresser. All for less than $50 and completed in a weekend in a few simple steps…
1.The first step was to empty the dresser drawers and wipe down the surfaces to be painted (no paint on the inside of the drawers for this project). We used these wipes:
2. Second was to remove the hardware and patch the holes, since the new hardware required two holes instead of one. This stuff is great for quick application, drying, and sanding smooth:
3. After the surfaces were cleaned and smoothed, we painted them with this lovely chalk-look paint: It only took two coats.
4. After everything was dry, we used our trusty jig
and drill:
to create the holes for the new hardware. We used these black pulls for high contrast:
And, DONE! All in all, it was about 3 hours of actual (leisurely) work with a few more hours of curing time. We got a lot of bang for our buck with this dresser update project. What projects like this do you have waiting around the house?
