‘RE’quarantine

Stuck at home? GOOD. You’re lucky, my friend. Focus on the positive, the blessings, of our current situation.

Although my job is considered “essential”, I consider myself very fortunate to have a lot more time at home than before.

These are the things I’ve focused on, the three ‘RE’s, that have helped during this time.

REST

Rest is the first step. When I started spending more time at home, I realized that I was really tired. I swapped coffee for green tea and started listening closer to my body. This article helped convince me to make the swap. After making the swap, I noticed that I slept deeper and longer.

My sleep-spirit-animal, Ella, knows a thing or two about the importance of sleep.

I’ve also learned so much more about sleep from this book. Makes for a great bed-time read:

REFRESH

After I started feeling more rested, I was able to take a closer look at how I could refresh other areas of my life and decided to upgrade my connections and communications with loved ones; and reached out to family and friends through social media and video chats. This is a great list of all the FREE ways you can reach out.

I sent my boss a thank you note, as well. It’s important to remember that the true leaders will step up during this time and shoulder much more of the burden than is their fair share. Whether it be your boss, nurse, doctor, mom, dad, etc. Show them some love and say, “Thank you.” Offer your help and support. Here are a few pointers from Quill.

While we’re redeveloping the way we communicate, remotely, try taking this time to renew those connections and make some lasting habits to enrich your relationships.

RESTART

Feeling rested and refreshed, I’ve been able to rethink about how I can leave this world better than I found it. Through this process, I’ve decided to reinvest more of my “free” time to volunteer my time and help raise funding for a few organizations in which I believe. Find ways to volunteer near you, here: https://www.volunteermatch.org/; and ways to help raising funding through Go Fund Me – Charity.

My hope is that when we emerge, physically together again, we will be a stronger society. That we will keep the good habits that we’ve formed and keep reaching for these renewed goals to Make the Difference.

How are you spending your “free” time? What is your hope for what we learn during this time?
